Project Title / Description

Analysis of the Impact of the Agri-Food sector of Changes in Policies and Markets

The objective is to bring together expertise in Ireland (North & South) and America to reassess the impact on the agriculture sector of the changes in policies and markets that may occur over the next ten years. An ecometric model of the agrifood sector will be built for use in analysing and projecting the impact of policy and other changes on farm incomes, product consumption and government costs, and on the market prospects for leading farm products and agricultural inputs. This model will be used to develop scenarios for the future and estimating how they will affect the sector.

The forward planning capabilities of policy makers in the public and private sector will be strengthened by having ready access to more systematic information on the impacts of the policy and other changes.
