Project Title / Description Anthropological Association of Irelandtwice annual meetings.

The Anthropological Association of Ireland was founded in the mid80s and draws its principal membership and officers from NUI Maynooth and Queen's University Belfast. Other members come from LSB, UCC and many other independent researchers. It comprises academic anthropologists, other working outside academy and many postgraduate students. The, twice annual, meetings provide important occasions not only for giving and hearing papers, but for the general exchange of information on programmes, etc. A newsletter is issued. Development Potential There is great potential for the development of collaborative research projects. Consideration is being given to developing research in areas of common interest, especially in the area of border studies. It is hoped to establish an institute of Social and Cultural Medicine in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, which will also involve an Institute in Armagh affiliated with Queen's.
